After spending two semesters at IITs (IIT Kanpur and IIT Gandhinagar) as a visiting student during his B.Tech programme at JKLU, Miheer Gautam was looking for an opportunity to study at least a semester outside India.
Among all the global universities that JKLU has collaborations with, he chose Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) as it is renowned for technology and innovation, which aligned well with his background.
“Plus, the prospect of studying in Norway felt like a solid mix of good academics and a completely new experience. I wanted to step out of my usual routine and see how I’d handle a different academic and cultural environment,” Miheer said.
Academically, this decision has proved to be extremely beneficial for Miheer as the project-based work and group assignments at NTNU has made him feel “more practical and relevant”. Also, what he enjoys the most is the interactive teaching style that makes classes more engaging.
“Personally, living in a new country has definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone in a good way. It has improved my adaptability, communication skills, and overall confidence,” he stated.
Despite being an international student, Miheer says he feels very much included in the vibrant campus life of NTNU.
“What I like most here is the balance: academics are taken seriously, but there is still plenty of space to relax, socialise, and enjoy the experience,” Miheer, who is currently pursuing the last semester of his B.Tech programme at NTNU, said.
