  • The written exam will have a total of 100 marks.

The entrance exam will have two sections

  • 30 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) assessing logical reasoning, general knowledge, and visual sensitivity.
  • 2 Subjective Questions evaluating creative abilities and problem-solving skills.

Line

The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay. It assesses candidates' aptitude for design, evaluating their visualization skills, creativity, and analytical abilities. UCEED scores are considered for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programs at various institutes, including JKLU.​

The details of the exam pattern are as follows

  • Candidates will be given 180 minutes to complete the exam.​
  • The written exam will have a total of 300 marks.

The entrance exam will have two sections

Computer-based test comprising three sections

  • Numerical Answer Type (NAT): 18 questions requiring numerical answers without options. Each correct answer awards 4 marks; no negative marking.
  • Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): 18 questions with one or more correct answers. Each correct answer awards 4 marks; no negative marking.
  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): 32 questions with a single correct answer. Each correct answer awards 3 marks; 1 mark deducted for each incorrect answer.

Section Details

  • NAT Questions: Assess candidates' ability to solve numerical problems relevant to design contexts.
  • MSQ Questions: Evaluate the depth of understanding, requiring selection of multiple correct options.
  • MCQ Questions: Test general design aptitude and theoretical knowledge.
  • Drawing Skills: Candidates are required to draw products, scenes, or objects in proportion with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective, and shading.

CUET
Line

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is a national-level examination administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admissions into various undergraduate programs across central and participating universities in India. At JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU), CUET scores are utilized for admission into the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) programme.

Exam Structure

  • The CUET is structured into three main sections, each designed to evaluate specific competencies.

Section IA: Languages

  • Purpose: Assess proficiency in a specific language.​
  • Languages Offered: 13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
  • Question Format: 40 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) to be attempted out of 50.​
  • Duration: 45 minutes per language.​
  • Content Focus: Reading comprehension (factual, literary, and narrative passages), literary aptitude, and vocabulary.​

Section IB: Additional Languages

  • Purpose: Provide flexibility for candidates to select additional language subjects.​
  • Languages Offered: 20 languages, including French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and others.​
  • Question Format: Similar to Section IA, with 40 MCQs to be attempted out of 50.​
  • Duration: 45 minutes per language.​
  • Content Focus: Similar to Section IA, focusing on reading comprehension, literary aptitude, and vocabulary.​

Section II: Domain-Specific Subjects

  • Purpose: Evaluate knowledge in specific subjects relevant to the candidate's chosen undergraduate program.​
  • Subjects Offered: 27 subjects, including Accountancy, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Geography, History, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, and more.​
  • Question Format: 40 MCQs to be attempted out of 50.​
  • Duration: 45 minutes per subject.
  • Content Focus: Based on the Class XII syllabus of the respective subject.​

Section III: General Test

  • Purpose: Assess general aptitude and reasoning abilities.​
  • Question Format: 60 questions to be attempted out of 75.​ ​

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is a national-level entrance test conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission into undergraduate engineering programs (B.E./B.Tech) at premier institutes across India. These include National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and various centrally-funded technical institutions. Moreover, JEE Main serves as the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, necessary for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). At JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU), JEE Main scores are considered for admissions into the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programme.

Structure of JEE Main

JEE Main consists of two primary papers, each intended for specific programs:

Paper 1 is for candidates interested in B.E./B.Tech programs.

Paper 2 is further divided into two distinct papers.

  • Paper 2A for Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch)
  • Paper 2B for Bachelor of Planning (B.Planning)

Detailed Exam Pattern

Paper 1 – B.E./B.Tech Paper 1 is conducted entirely as a Computer-Based Test (CBT). It has a total duration of 3 hours and carries a maximum of 300 marks. The paper is divided into three sections: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, each comprising 25 questions.

Each section further consists of two subsections:

  • Section A: 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each question offering four answer options.
  • Section B: 5 Numerical Value Questions (NVQs), requiring numerical input without options provided.

Marking Scheme for Paper 1

Part A

  • MCQs: Correct answers earn +4 marks, incorrect answers incur a penalty of -1 mark, while unanswered questions are awarded 0 marks.
  • Numerical Value Questions: Correct responses earn +4 marks, incorrect answers carry a penalty of -1 mark, and unanswered questions yield 0 marks.

Application Process for JEE Main

Candidates aspiring to take JEE Main must register online via the official NTA JEE Main portal (jeemain.nta.nic.in). The process involves:

  • Registration: Filling out personal details, email ID, and mobile number for generating login credentials.
  • Completing the Application Form: Providing academic details, selecting preferred examination cities, and uploading scanned images of photographs and signatures.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a national-level examination conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore and the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). It primarily evaluates the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering, technology, science, architecture, and humanities. GATE scores are widely used for admissions into postgraduate programs (M.Tech, M.E.) and doctoral (Ph.D.) programs at leading educational institutions across India. Scores are also considered by many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment purposes. At JK Lakshmipat University (JKLU), GATE scores are utilized for admission into Master of Technology (M.Tech) and PhD programme and for validating the eligibility of candidates whose degrees are not in closely allied disciplines.

Structure of GATE Examination

The GATE examination is computer-based (online), with questions designed to assess candidates' depth and clarity of concepts.

  • Examination Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes)
  • Number of Questions: 65 questions
  • Total Marks: 100 marks

Question Types and Sections

The examination paper broadly includes two types of questions:
