Sessions on ‘Awareness on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)’, ‘Presentation and Writing Skills’, ‘New Media and Fact-Check’ and ‘Gender Equality & Feminism’
JK Lakshmipat University and IIC-JKLU, on May 2, 2022 organized an awareness session on Intellectual Property (IP) Rights under the special initiative by Government of India ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to celebrate the 75th anniversary of independence of India. The session was delivered by Mr Manish Soyal, Examiner of Patents & Designs, Indian-Patent Office, Delhi. More than 70 participants attended the session. During the session, Mr Soyal briefly highlighted the various aspects of IPR, such as Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, etc. He shared what are the subject matter for patent, what information and documents are required in getting patents, kinds of patent applications, time-line of patenting and laws of the patent. At the end of the workshop Prof Yogesh Rohilla delivered vote of thanks and the speaker was felicitated with a memento by Dr Sanjay Goel, Director-IET. The workshop was coordinated by Dr Pushpendra Singh and Prof Yogesh Rohilla.
On May 4, 2022, the Centre for Communication and Critical Thinking at JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur organized a session titled ‘Presentation and Writing Skills’ for students of B.Tech first year. There were 71 students in the session. The session was facilitated by Ms Videsha Bansal and was focused upon do’s and don’ts while making a presentation. Students were divided into groups and were given sample slides to find mistakes in them. Each group discussed their findings with the facilitator, who, later, also explained 8 golden rules of presentation. The students were also given a brief about how they can keep practicing effective writing by eliminating some common errors.
The Centre for Communication and Critical Thinking organized a lecture on “New Media and Fact-Check’, facilitated by Mr Sanjay Kumar, New Media Strategist & Editor, MSN-India, on May 6, 2022. This session was for the students of B.Tech first year. There were 80 students in the session. Mr. Kumar emphasized upon the importance of print media in the contemporary scenario. He discussed how information is available and can be considered as authentic. The focus was on fact checking objectives, different types of misinformation available, and various tools for checking facts and their sources
On May 12, 2022 the Centre for Communication and Critical Thinking, in collaboration with YP Foundation, conducted a student survey on Gender Equality and Feminism in the Campus. This survey was to understand the opinion and experience of the students irrespective of their gender. Objective of this survey is to highlight important considerations for establishing new and strengthen current intervention in the campus to enrich student experiences. 20 students across all the disciplines were selected for this survey which happened in offline mode at MDC- Training rooms 001 and 002.
