National Science Day
JK Lakshmipat University organized an activity-packed event on the theme ‘Integrated approach in Science and Technology for a Sustainable Future’ to celebrate National Science Day, which takes place every year on February 28, 2022 to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by renowned Indian physicist and Nobel Laureate Sir C. V. Raman. Prof Dheeraj Sanghi, Vice Chancellor, JKLU addressed the gathering and urged the audience to develop a scientific temper to make everyone’s life easy. He also mentioned about many big incidences, or coincidences related to scientific community on 28th February. Prof Geeta Bhatt, Director, Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board, University of Delhi delivered the Keynote lecture on the topic ‘Leading towards an inclusive future – with Science and Technology’. She analysed the contribution of Sir CV Raman towards the scientific community as well as the contribution of science and technology in developing an inclusive community. Apart from students’ developing a scientific temperament, she emphasized on roles of connectivity and sharing of information to increase inclusivity at all levels. The programme included various activities like Quiz competition, Poster presentation and Project demonstration. Some fun Science activities were conducted to spread awareness on the importance of science in day-to-day life. In the poster presentation competition, students had to make a creative depiction of an interesting technology which already exists or is apparent in near future, innovative ideas of their own or ingenious solutions to existing problems. The Science Quiz consisted of two rounds and every student participated virtually. Dr. Vipin Kumar Jain, Coordinator-Department of Science and Technology, Dr. Manushi Gupta and Dr. Sandeep Kumar Singh were the event organizers.
