On February 14, 2022, the Centre for Communication and Critical Thinking organised a workshop titled “Handling Misinformation” for the 2nd year BBA, BDes, and BCA students. The session’s speaker was Mr. Amitabh Kumar, an expert on online safety and the founder of Social Media Matters, YOLO, and Wranga. Due to the widespread use of digital platforms, information is being exchanged at a massive scale and speed. This has resulted in increase in the circulation of false information. Recognizing the need to develop user capabilities in order to combat and break the cycle of Fake News is critical. During this interactive and engaging session, the speaker spoke about the ideology behind misinformation. He also shared tools to identify misinformation in order to develop critical thinking.
