Workshop on Mentoring
JKLU Committee on Student Success and Mentoring organised a mentoring workshop on May 8, 2024, from 9.00 am to 5.30 pm in the IET amphitheatre for all faculty members. Total 39 faculties participated in the workshop. The aim of the workshop is to level-up and strengthen mentoring practices in JKLU by understanding the dos and don’ts of mentoring, designing a framework, and facilitating the mentoring eco system. The facilitator of the workshop was Dr. Anju Chawla, Founder-EQ, Internationally Certified (PCC,ICF-US) Emotional Wellness & Life Coach.
The workshop started by welcoming all the participants and facilitator. The context of the workshop was set by the pro-vice chancellor JKLU Prof. Asheesh Gupta by highlighting mentorship is an integral part of JKLU culture and it must be incorporated into a natural flow. The facilitator started on very important note by saying that the mentor ignites the most important emotions of hope and trust in a mentee. She illustrated the relevance of mentoring and communicated few behavioral tips for mentor by giving understanding of dos and don’ts of mentoring. She conducted few activities and role play among faculty syndicates.
Self-reflection activity helped in learning the effective mentoring process. To attract mentees, she discussed various tips, such as Wheel of Life. By addressing both logistical considerations and emotional support elements, a favorable mentoring eco-system can be created. She also discussed Oscar Model for achieving a meaningful and productive outcome from mentoring.
Dr. Sheetal Mundra extended vote of thanks. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Sheetal Mundra and Dr. Manushi Gupta.
