Shiva has pursued an interdisciplinary academic path in the social sciences, beginning with a BA (Hons.) in Economics from the University of Delhi (2013–2016), followed by a Masters in Development Studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Hyderabad (2018–2020), and is currently completing a PhD in Sociology at IIIT Delhi (2020–present), with her dissertation focused on gender, care, and labour within scheme work.
She has served as a Teaching Assistant at IIIT Delhi, supporting courses in sociology, ethics, and research methods. She has also been a Visiting Research Scholar at the University of Göttingen, Germany. Earlier, she worked in the corporate sector as an Analyst at the Royal Bank of Scotland (2016–2018) before transitioning fully into academia. She actively contributes to academic networks, publications, conferences and popular writings. Her profile blends rigorous sociological research with teaching, translation, and literary pursuits, highlighting her interdisciplinary engagement across academia and culture.
