As part of Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2026, JKLU conducted its internal round on 10 and 17 September 2026. The two-stage event provided students with a platform to work on real-world problem statements, develop innovative and technology-driven solutions, demonstrate their prototypes and receive structured feedback from expert jury members.
The hackathon recorded 65 registered teams comprising 390 students. A total of 59 students participated in the evaluation process. The teams worked across a wide range of themes, with Smart Automation emerging as the most represented category, followed by Miscellaneous, Disaster Management, Blockchain & Cybersecurity, Agriculture/FoodTech & Rural Development, Transportation & Logistics, Smart Vehicles, Space Technology, Robotics & Drones, HealthTech and Smart Education, among others.
The evaluation process included team presentations, demonstrations and jury-led Q&A, with each presentation slot structured around a 10-minute pitch followed by interaction with the jury. Teams were assessed through a 100-mark evaluation framework covering Innovation & Uniqueness (30 marks), Feasibility & Technical Soundness (35 marks), and Scalability & Real-World Impact (35 marks).
A panel of 18 jury members, comprising faculty members and an industry expert, participated in the evaluation. Beyond assessment, the jury interactions enabled students to receive constructive feedback on problem framing, technical architecture, data sources, feasibility, scalability, novelty and presentation skills. The process also helped identify teams requiring further mentoring and supported the recommendation of teams for further consideration under SIH 2026.
The Internal Hackathon reinforced JKLU’s focus on innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, technology-driven problem-solving and developing solutions with real-world impact.
