The Institute of Engineering and Technology at JK Lakshmipat University organized a Math Utsav to celebrate the beauty, importance, and impact of mathematics. The event aimed to inspire students to explore mathematical ideas and recognize the contributions of mathematicians, particularly women in mathematics. The celebration was also aligned with the spirit of International Women’s Day, emphasizing the theme “Celebrating Contributions of Women in Mathematics.

The primary purpose of Math Utsav 2026 was to celebrate mathematics as a universal language of logic, discovery, and innovation. The event also sought to recognize and appreciate the contributions of women mathematicians and encourage students to develop curiosity, creativity, and analytical thinking through mathematics. Furthermore, the program aimed to create awareness among students about the significant role of mathematics in science, technology, research, and everyday life.

The Chief Guest of the event, Dr. Jayasree Subramanian, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics at SRM University, Andhra Pradesh, delivered an insightful and inspiring address. In her lecture, she emphasized the importance of mathematics education, the need for equity and inclusivity in mathematics, and the importance of encouraging diverse voices in the field. She highlighted how mathematical thinking promotes creativity, critical reasoning, and innovation, and encouraged students to pursue mathematics with confidence and enthusiasm.

Addressing the students, JKLU Vice Chancellor Vijay Shekhar Chellaboina emphasized the crucial role of mathematics in driving technological advancements and scientific discoveries. He motivated students to develop a deeper appreciation for mathematics and encouraged them to pursue knowledge with curiosity, dedication, and perseverance.

The event concluded with a valedictory ceremony during which certificates were distributed to students who actively participated in the competitions and activities organized as part of Math Utsav 2026.
