JKLU hosted an insightful guest talk by Prof. Krishna Sirohi, Professor of Practice at the Bharti School of Telecommunication, IIT Delhi and Co-founder of Wireless 4 Scale (W4S) Laboratory, on August 22. The session focused on the theme “5G/6G Research Translation – From Academia to Deployable Deep-Tech Solutions.”

Prof. Sirohi shared his extensive journey in indigenous telecommunications and highlighted the importance of translating academic research into field-deployable, globally competitive technologies. He emphasized the need to think beyond short-term research goals and develop solutions addressing long-term national and societal needs.

The talk explored emerging applications of 5G and 6G in defence, smart manufacturing, precision agriculture, robotics, healthcare, surveillance, disaster management, and Industry 4.0/5.0. A key highlight was the Brain-Computer Interface (BCI)-controlled swarm-drone navigation system, demonstrating the convergence of neural interfaces, edge computing, and private 5G networks.

Prof. Sirohi also presented the IOS-5GN open-source 5G platform & the entrepreneurial journey of W4S Laboratory, illustrating how research can progress from simulation and experimentation to pilots, startups, and deployable products.
