JK Lakshmipat University

Electronics and Communication Engineering (VLSI Design)
Institute of Engineering and Technology

Introduction

The B.Tech.  in ECE & VLSI at JK Lakshmipat University is designed to develop students with knowledge and skills tailored to the needs of India’s rapidly growing electronics and semiconductor industry. The program is designed with comprehensive curriculum which integrates foundational concepts in electronics, communication systems, and advanced topics in digital and analog circuit design. Students shall gain proficiency in hardware description languages like Verilog and VHDL and hands-on experience with industry-standard EDA tools. With a strong emphasis on innovation and industry readiness, this program prepares graduates to excel in roles such as Communication Systems Design engineers, VLSI Design, Testing and Verification specialists.

Specializations

Specializations allow students to acquire advanced skills and knowledge in a specific area of their main program. The curriculum for the first two years remains the same for all students, providing a solid foundation in core engineering principles.

In their third year, students can choose to specialize in one of the following areas, requiring the completion of at least three courses within the specialization:

Data Science
  • Foundations of Data Science
  • Natural Language Processing
  • Business Analytics
  • Data Visualisation
Cloud Computing
  • Parallel and distributed computing
  • Cloud computing architecture
  • Cloud Services and technologies
  • Fog and edge networks
  •
Big Data Analytics
  • Big data storage and architecture
  • Multi-dimensional and advanced databases
  • Mining massive data-sets
  • Social network analysis and business analytics
Cyber Security
  • Introduction to information security
  • Fundamentals of cyber security
  • Secure Analytics and Coding
  • Cyber Forensics
  •
VLSI
  • CMOS VLSI
  • VLSI Physical Design
  • VLSI testing and verification
  • IC Fabrication Technology/ Real time operating systems

Minors (Interdisciplinary)

For students interested in expanding their horizons beyond their primary field of engineering, minors offer a valuable opportunity. Minors complement the main degree and can enhance employability, facilitate interdisciplinary learning, or serve as a stepping stone to further education.

The minors currently offered at the institute include:

  • Design
  • Banking in Fintech
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Robotics
  • Mathematics

Successfully completed specializations and minors are prominently noted on the students’ degree certificates alongside their main field of study. This recognition highlights their additional qualifications and can significantly enhance their profiles for potential employers or academic opportunities.
