Institute of Engineering and Technology

B.Tech.

Scholarships for B. Tech. Programme offered at Institute of Engineering & Technology

To encourage and support meritorious applicants, JKLU has a very distinctive scholarship programme. Applicant may qualify for a scholarship up to full waiver of the University Academic Fee.

The Scholarship offered has two components:

  • Assured - Assured component is guaranteed for four years.
  • Merit based - Merit based component, which is subject to maintaining a specified minimum academic performance.

Scholarship is awarded based on:

  • Academic Performance in Class X & Class XII marks. (Only for those who have passed class XII in 2021/2022/2023.)
  • Performance in JEE 2021/2022/2023, if available.
  • Exceptional performance in co-curricular activities (Sports, Cultural, Social Service etc.) reserved with VC.

For the purpose of awarding scholarship, the 10th and 12th class scores will be computed as follows:

  • For Class X Score: English, Maths, Social Studies, Science and fifth subject of applicant’s choice.
  • For Class XII Score: Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English (total of four subjects)

Additionally, we have a scheme of fee reduction for certain categories of students. We reduce fee by 25% (of academic fee – any fixed scholarship) for the following individuals:

  • Wards of a staff member of JKLU or any entity belonging to JKO
  • Sibling of a student (both get fee reduction)
  • Sibling of an alumni
  • An alumni doing a second degree.

The scholarships are also dependent on the date of application and the date of confirmation of admission. Early admissions have more relaxed criteria for scholarships. Each month, the deadline for application will be the last date of the month. The admission decision will be communicated within 1-2 weeks, and the initial payment to confirm the admission will have to be made within one week of the admission offer.

Those who have taken the Class XII exam or JEE in 2023 and do not have the scores available at the time of application, will be governed by the rules applicable on the date of application/confirmation of admission. It is therefore advisable for everyone to apply early, even without the scores of Class XII and JEE made available.

BCA

  • Academic Performance in Class X & Class XII marks. (Only for those who have passed class XII in 2021/2022/2023.)
  • Exceptional performance in co-curricular activities (Sports, Cultural, Social Service etc.).

Scholarships for B.Des Programme offered at Institute of Design­­ 
To encourage and support meritorious Applicants, JKLU has a very distinctive scholarship programme. Applicant may qualify for a scholarship up to full waiver of the University Academic Fee. 

Scholarship is awarded based on: 

  • Academic Performance in Class X and XII marks. 
  • Performance in JKLU-DET & Portfolio Round. 

  

Scholarship on the basis of Academic Performance in Class X and XII marks, JKLU DET and Portfolio : 
Students who have secured a position in the top 15% in R1 and R2​ top 10% In R3 in JKLU-DET rounds will receive scholarships varying from 75% - 100% fee waiver. Additionally, students with exceptional portfolios will be awarded relevant scholarships.

Policy on Scholarship Upgradation by one level

While every application is considered for scholarship based on the final scores achieved in 10th and 12th standard, the consideration for scholarship upgradation shall be mostly limited to the students whose design portfolio submitted as part of the application during the admission process displays exemplary talent. The broad parameters of judgment of portfolio and the subsequent upgraded scholarship award to the student are: Creativity and innovation employed; quality, versatility and presentation of work displayed; comprehension of problem statement and consequent process to the derived solution; competency in ideation, research, and skill; domain knowledge; and the learning ability and growth orientation of the student. Scholarship level may also be upgraded by one level in case of exceptional achievements in any other sphere by the student.

Selection Committee and Terms & Conditions

All scholarship applications received shall be scrutinised based on the criterion defined in the policy on scholarship upgradation and on the discretion of the Selection Committee. The Selection Committee includes the Vice Chancellor of JKLU, Director of Institute of Design, Director of Admissions, and faculty members of the Institute of Design. The decision of the Selection Committee will be binding and final. No further review requests will be acknowledged. The number of scholarship upgrades to be awarded during each academic year is at the discretion of the Committee. If no candidate is found suitable for consideration of scholarship upgradation, no award shall be recommended in an academic year.

The scholarship decision will be based on rules applicable on the day the complete application is submitted, subject to admission being confirmed by paying the initial deposit. For example, If a student has 95% marks in 10 th , and 12 th class results will be available in June, 2023. Assuming that the student got 96% marks in 12 th , the scholarship will be 100% (L1) if the application was submitted in March, but it will be 75% (L2), if the application was submitted in May. Hence it is important to submit applications as early as possible.
