JKLU emboldens INNOVATION

Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, envisages a Digital India to bridge the digital divide in our country and further promote digital literacy in order to make development in a comprehensive mass movement and put governance within everyone’s reach in India.

In order to work towards our PM’s vision, Ministry of HRD, All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) proposed the Smart India Hackathon 2017, a unique initiative to identify new and disruptive digital technology innovations for solving the challenges faced by our country. Smart India Hackathon 2017 was a computer programming competition which involved all Engineering colleges with a reach to approximately 30 Lakh students from across India. The challenge for the students was to think out-of-the-box and offer innovative ideas to build smart applications which will help address major real time problems in our country. Overall 31 Ministries came up with their multiple problems for the students to provide digital solution for the same.

Three teams comprising of 15 students of JKLU computer science participated in Smart JKLU computer scienceHackathon 2017 and one team “Team Tracker” was selected for the Grand Finale on 1-2 April, 2017. The University faculty enriches the innovation of young students and help them to materialize their concepts in the real project. The Grand Finale was a pan India 36 hour nonstop digital programming competition whose objective was to offer digital yet sustainable innovative solutions to solve real time challenges faced by the nation.

‘Team Tracker’ was among the top 28 teams selected for the Grand Finale by the Department of Post, Ministry of  Communication from more than 200 such project submissions. Their project contributes to the resolution of the problem faced by the ministry and dealt with real-time bag tracking and alert system by monitoring the package at every major points.

The University incorporates Industry Collaboration Programs in Engineering with IBM, RedHat, ORACLE, CISCO, Microsoft and many more in queue to step into. JKLU provides specialized courses in Information Security, Big Data & Analytics as a part of their curriculum.

It helps the students to become global citizens and for the same it provides environment and support where students take initiative to propose innovative solutions to major technological problems.
