Fault Current Limiter in Indian Power Sector Perspective

In the restructured environment, electrical utilities are using distributed generation sources and energy-efficient technologies to meet power shortage / power quality issues, which raised the fault level and power surges. The fault current level in many places may often exceed from their withstanding capacity of present infrastructure. Due to poor financial viability, Indian electrical utilities are interested in avoiding up gradation of existing networks with enhancement of network flexibility, sustainability and reliability. Therefore, it is needed to control fault currents to a level at which conventional protection equipment can operate safely with the consideration of financial burden on electric utilities. Looking to the Indian power sector, the fault current limiter (FCL) is a promising option to enhance the useful life of the equipment, even though exceed from their withstands capability. This blog is aimed at describing how the researcher and Best universities in Jaipur like JK Lakshmipat University can support utility engineers for the FCL application.

FCL is adaptable to electrical utility constraints such as location choice, modularity and space availability. Under normal operation, these devices have a negligible impedance until a fault event occurs. They are of two types: Superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) and solid-state fault current limiter (SSFCL). SFCL uses superconducting based material to limit fault current while SSFCL controls the same by using high-speed solid-state switching devices. On the basis of fault current limiting capacity, restoration time and voltage sag mitigation parameter, it is observed that the solid-state fault current limiter is more efficient than the solid-state fault current limiter. The Key benefits of fault current limiter are: Continue reading

Selection Criteria of Engineering College

After passing 10+2 exams, most confusing task for a student and their parents is to choose college and then branch, especially when they have to choose an engineering college. Everyone wants to take admission in the best engineering college but it is not easy to define best college. Normally people judge the college by its ranking in the media or in the newspapers, placement statics, etc. These ranking are based on the data provided by the institution itself and can vary with the reality. Also the ranking is of institution, not the program. Most of the people don’t understand the placement statics shown by the colleges. The only focus is on the highest package offered (even it was offered to single student).

Another confusion is to choose the program and branch. Students wants to take admission in some other branch or program and parents wants some other. The reason of this confusion is the placement statics of the influence of known or relatives. Continue reading

JKLU and its contribution to management education in Rajasthan

Guided by the vision of noted philanthropist industrialist Lala Lakshmipat Singhania, JK Lakshmipat University was set up in Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan, in the year 2011. According to Lala Lakshmipat Singhania, higher learning and management skills are essential for Indian industry and economy to grow and compete globally. JK Lakshmipat University is built on the pillars of quality education, social service, commitment, dedication, Indian values through design and delivery of innovative and need based training programmes.

Under the visionary leadership of eminent and legendary personalities like Shri Bharat Hari Singhania (Chancellor, JKLU), Dr. Raghupati Singhania (Pro Chancellor JKLU, and winner of the famous TIA Hall of Fame 2015) and Dr. Roshan Lal Raina (Vice Chancellor JKLU; Ex-Professor IIM Lucknow, and a well-respected management thought leader) the university has attained such a stature that the quality of JKLU education system needs no promotion. As a recognition of the excellent quality of education and work done by JKLU, it has been felicitated with distinguished awards and honours such as ‘Indian Education Excellence Award 2012’, ‘Education Excellence Award 2013’, ‘Global Education Excellence Award 2013’, ‘South Asian Academy Award 2013’, ‘Quality initiative Mission Education Leadership Award 2013’, and ‘Best University for Academic Excellence in India’, Award 2015.
